Tom Smith is a founding Partner of ZoomCFO.
Tom is a seasoned finance professional with over thirty years of accounting, finance and business operations experience. After completing his undergraduate degrees in Business and Economics, Tom began his career in 1991 at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange working on the trading floor as a financial analyst. He then transitioned to the Northern Trust Company where he worked as an Employee Benefit Accountant in the large corporate trust accounting and reporting division. Tom later moved to Denver and continued his accounting career achieving the role of Controller for a national sales and marketing organization.
Advancing his career further, Tom moved to UT and served for five years as VP of Finance and CFO for a private equity backed technology services company that completed numerous acquisitions and experienced tremendous growth. Tom completed his MBA at BYU and subsequently co-founded or launched several technology ventures serving in roles from CFO to COO to President.
Tom holds a B.S. in Business Administration. and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Northern Colorado and an MBA from Brigham Young University. He is also a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) through the Wharton School of Business.
